Etsy Promo Love First Giveaway!

* Recently we've all playing the Esty Promo Love game on Facebook! It is a game that involves promoting Etsy items on the famous social network in a fun and helpful way. It started with a group of Etsian sellers and EVERYONE is welcome to join the group!!!

* The philoshopy of this game is mutual promotion! Using the "share" option that is almost everywhere on FB we can spread an item we like to our friends in real time with just one click! If one of our friends likes it and clicks the "share" button too, the item we picked for sharing will immediately appear on the wall of our friend, where it will be seen by all of their friends who may also like to play the game, and so on... Imagine how quickly an item will be seen by hundreds or thousands of people who may not even know the person who made it - and all this for FREE!

Monday Moodboard

1. "Lost 1" - Mini Art Feeling from ArtMind
2. "Sous l'orage" - Digital Art Print from Matilou
3. "Can you fell the sea" - Wet Felted and Embroidered Wall Hanging from Viltalakim
4. "Terry the mouse in a cat suit" - Felt Mouse Ornament from TheHouseOfMouse

At first glance, today's moodboard may look like a bit of a random mix... But my mood today is all about feeling a little bit lost, and yet doing what I can to feel comfortable and safe nonetheless. It's very comforting to me to surround myself with things that make me feel warm and squishy inside, and to know that no matter what may happen, I will always be able to find these happy things :-)

Also, these are some of my favourite items from some extremely talented Etsians, so it's just fun to enjoy that really!!

I love to trade!!

I have been so very lucky lately to be involved in three wonderful trades :-D

First, I swapped with Ingermaaike for these fabulous goodies...

A Floral Canvas Belt, made for the EST weekly challenge hosted by BHBKidstyle
which looks fabulous with jeans or a skirt, and has the most amazing textures!
A beautifully soft felted deep red/purple scarf which I ADORE...

...and a lovely Baltic seaglass felted candle holder, which currently lives in pride of place on my mantelpiece :)
I also traded with the lovely "Flori" of florigamigirl who very kindly agreed to make me my very own custom bag from upcycled felt and other materials. I was just thrilled with the result, and I use my fabulous handbag all the time! She even threw in one of her super sweet felt flower brooches in colours that perfectly match my bag :D
Flori has since started making loads of gorgeous bags in some lovely materials, you can find them in her Etsy shop here. Thanks Flori my sweet new friend!
And my final little parcel of delightful swap goodies came from Sebnem of Shebbodesign who turned out to be my surprise spring swap partner! She sent me this fabulous "traditional Turkish Iznik pottery galleon motif hand painted plate" !!
AND a beautiful cardigan for my little rascal, Vincent. Here he is looking very angellic in it! (Don't let that fool you! Hehehe)
Am I lucky or what?! :-))))))) Thank you so much, my lovely friends! xxxx

I've been away too long!

Well, Our trip to France was a great success and we had lots of fun at my mum's house! Vincent met all of her friends over there for the first time and had lots of cuddles, what a lucky boy ;)

A few photos from our trip...

(Trust me, Vince is much more photogenic than the rest of us!!!)

And so now on to the task of getting my Etsy shop up and running once again. I am making lots of exciting new items and will start to list them in my shop now. I've reopened and am looking forward to lots of wonderful sales! I've missed the Etsy community, especialy the lovely EST guys, so I look forward to getting back in the "loop" :)

Inspiration at the park

We took a family stroll to the park the other day to walk our dog, Ben, and I took the opportunity of checking out the amazing trees for some inspiration for my wire trees.

It's so cool that there are so many different types of trees growing in the same place! They each seem to have a personality: Really tall trees with tiny branches all the way up, MASSIVE trees with very short trunks, branches that come out at odd angles...

There are also several tiny little "baby" trees that have been planted quite recently, imagine how long they will live and how much they will change! Amazing :)

I'm going to make an effort to get some of these fabulous shapes into my wire tree sculptures, especially the horsechestnut trees which have branches coming down at really great angles and swooping upwards!

We all had fun at the park, but Ben was a bit of a mess by the end of the walk!!

...And on the way home, I found a lucky penny! Woop woop! Hehehe ;)

"The Voices"

I finished my latest piece tonight; another black iron wire sculpture that I have entitled "The Voices" (with a little input from my darling husband!!)

As long as Kathryn is happy with him, he will be going to the gallery in Bodmin (I'll have to make another some time for Etsy!!)

I have to admit, when he was only part-finished, I had a moment of panic when I thought he wasn't going to be at all what I had envisaged!! But I kept the faith, and once he was finished and posed I was more than thrilled with the outcome!

I'm going to make several more of a similar style, in different sizes and poses, perhaps some in silver as well as black. I'd love to know your opinions, dear readers! Don't be afraid to comment :)

xx

My wire sculpture will be featured in a real life gallery!

~ Sinister Hand ~

Well, I thought this news made the perfect excuse for my first proper blog post! I was contacted on Etsy yesterday by a lady (artist!) called Kathryn Crocker.

~ Kathryn at work ~

She lives in Cornwall with her partner Nathan (also an artist!) and children, and is opening a new "alternative art" gallery in Bodmin next month. They will be displaying their own work and that of a few select artists, and my "Sinister Hand" and other wire sculptures caught Kathryn's eye on Etsy, and she has asked whether I would like to display and sell some of my work there!

~ Dead Tree ~

I am really looking forward to meeting Kathryn next week, and am working on some new wire sculpture pieces that should fit well with the theme she is looking to create in her gallery.

~ Nathan Crocker's Digital Artwork: "The Dark" ~

Kathryn says she has had an "overwhelmingly positive response to the idea of an 'alternative art' gallery" and although the gallery will be small in size, she has high hopes of it becoming the leader in Cornwall for alternative arts. After doing a little research on Kathryn, I think my heart was really won by her own amazing artwork, and this beautiful painting certainly fits with my and my partner's passion for sci-fi:

I am very excited that some of my wire sculpture will be displayed and sold alongside such fabulous work!

There is a lauch party for the gallery on April 24th with local press in attendance, and I am hoping to be able to attend myself. Here's hoping that this is the start of big things for Kathryn and her family, and also for little old Omnia of course ;)

You can find out more about Kathryn, as well as view and buy her and her husband's amazing paintings and digital art on their website: http://www.mazoo.co.uk/

Entering the Scary World of Blogging!

Well, I feel somewhat like a blind foreigner in a busy marketplace, but I've finally set up my blog! Stumbling along a little, I hope to improve things as I learn, but I am very happy to be here. Please be gentle with me!
