Inspiration at the park

We took a family stroll to the park the other day to walk our dog, Ben, and I took the opportunity of checking out the amazing trees for some inspiration for my wire trees.

It's so cool that there are so many different types of trees growing in the same place! They each seem to have a personality: Really tall trees with tiny branches all the way up, MASSIVE trees with very short trunks, branches that come out at odd angles...

There are also several tiny little "baby" trees that have been planted quite recently, imagine how long they will live and how much they will change! Amazing :)

I'm going to make an effort to get some of these fabulous shapes into my wire tree sculptures, especially the horsechestnut trees which have branches coming down at really great angles and swooping upwards!

We all had fun at the park, but Ben was a bit of a mess by the end of the walk!!

...And on the way home, I found a lucky penny! Woop woop! Hehehe ;)

"The Voices"

I finished my latest piece tonight; another black iron wire sculpture that I have entitled "The Voices" (with a little input from my darling husband!!)

As long as Kathryn is happy with him, he will be going to the gallery in Bodmin (I'll have to make another some time for Etsy!!)

I have to admit, when he was only part-finished, I had a moment of panic when I thought he wasn't going to be at all what I had envisaged!! But I kept the faith, and once he was finished and posed I was more than thrilled with the outcome!

I'm going to make several more of a similar style, in different sizes and poses, perhaps some in silver as well as black. I'd love to know your opinions, dear readers! Don't be afraid to comment :)
